i have suffered with IBS since i was 10 (now 22) so i know what your going through.
different things help different people.
i find i can’t eat silly things liek jammy dodgers,as they have me kealed over in agony.
try writing like a food diary so you can make a note of foods you’ve eaten on certian days and what symptoms you have had. i found this really helped me, and it made me realise there were several foods i was eating that was making it worse.
lots of water, hotwater bottle curled up on the sofa heps a lot also ;-p
thjings like greasy and spicy foods make it worse also.
and things like sweets-like haribo, i can only have a couple at a time.
cheap sweets and chocolate also make me suffer very bad stomach cramps also.
hope this helps x
I suffered with this for many years, good diet and exercise are not always enough, a high level of stress in your life can have a huge effect on IBS symptoms. Continue fiber therapy and reduce the amount of caffeine in your diet as well as chocolate and alcohol, which can trigger attacks, good luck feel better.
One brilliant thing is the antispasmodics. i get mine on prescription and they help the cramps. unfortunately it is a process of trial and error. i have so many books and tried loads of different methods while spending most of my time up the doctors pulling my hair out!
Peppermint cordial/capsules can help and defo the food elimination diet. it is a pain but helped me figure out what my triggers food were and the results were surprising.
Stress is obviously a big factor - the docs put me on mild anti-depressants and they helped. Unfortunately there is no quick fix so i wish u luck as trust me i really know what ur going thro.
Try changing all dairy to soya alternatives and eat porridge for breakfast every day.The real porridge oats not the instant Ready Brek sort. I make mine with soya milk in the micro and add half a teaspoon (or so) of honey……delicious! It`s almost cured my IBS.
