All bran. Saw me through my pregnancy. Worked like a dream. good luck.
they have a great new juice out cranberry and prune juice, it should do the trick, i think it is oceanspray
Prunes and prune juice, bran cereal, anything with lots of fiber.
Eat plenty of high-fiber foods, drink as much water (or non-caffeinated beverages) as you can, and try a little flax seed oil on your cereal.
Good luck!
Prunes? Or prune juice. Fruits generally work. Drink plenty of water.
Constipation during pregnancy can be caused by hormonal changes that cause the intestines to move less. Iron supplements can also cause constipation.
To avoid constipation, eat lots of fibre-rich foods such as fruit, vegetables, wholemeal bread and cereal, prunes and prune juice. Drinking 2 to 3 litres of water each day will also help prevent constipation by keeping stools moist.
Regular exercise will also help get the intestines moving. About 20 to 30 minutes’ swimming or brisk walking two to three times a week is a good level of exercise to aim for.
A pharmacist will be able to provide advice about over-the-counter preparations that are safe to use during pregnancy to relieve constipation.
Try eating at least one probiotic yoghurt every day, Activia are good. If you do eat extra fibre you must dring lots of water too.
Fried chicken… that grease will run through you like a kid on a water slide.
I’m joking…. try bran! Just like everyone else said!!
Congrats on the incubating baby!
Fruit, or fruit juices. Prune is kinda nasty I think. A tastier alternative is pear juice.
Apples, or apple juice, even applesauce. And prunes or prune juice always work too.
FRUIT FOODS.
grapes and prunes
Poor you Rachel - I was the same with my first pregnancy. I felt like I hadn’t had a poo for 9 months by the time my baby was born!
I’m 38 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child now and have overcome the same issues as follows:
*Drink LOADS. Very annoying as my toilet is upstairs but is worth it because I get to poo every day! (too much info?)
*Eat grapes by the bucketload.
*Have a bowl of high fibre cereal every day
*Excercise a bit to get things moving. Walk round the block every day.
*Take the lactulose (should be called lactu-gross!) for a few days in a row. It should start working by day 3.
Something I found worked for me too (and I have a cast iron bowel at the best of times) is sugar free Mentos. You can get them in fruit or mint flavour. I ate a packet of the fruit ones (only sugar free though, not the regular ones) and the next day they worked. If you’re in the UK, the only place I’ve ever found them is by the tills in Morrisons! I swear by them!
Good luck!
Try dried fruit…dried peaches, apples, prunes, nectarines, apricots, raisins and pears. You can even get dried berries, which are very tasty. They make a really good snack and they help a lot with the constipation. Bran cereal for breakfast is also good.
Food that are high in fiber (bran cereal, wheat bread) prune juice, warm apple juice daily, lots of water, GREEN veggies, and fruits everyday. It works a bit for me. Yogurt helps too.
Pineapple works wonders for me. Good Luck, I hope you find something that can help you.
Drink lots of water, also fresh orange juice [not from concentrate though] porridge for breakfast, Allbran cereal, fresh fruit, dried fruit x
