Question for all you poor people who suffer from acid reflux or similar problems?
When you get a bad hit of acid or heartburn (mainly when lying or sitting down), does it sometimes feel like the top half of your body is about to freeze and you have to shack your body about? It’s hard to explain, but that’s the best way I can describe it.
Thanks Steve, I’ve only had it for a few months now. I went to the docs a month ago and tested out zoton for a month and had a blood test. Unfortunately I have to wait two more weeks to see him. They really did help, but I thought it would clear it totally. I find the best thing for me is to take the tablet and after every meal have a walk. If you have anymore info, please let me know. Cheers

No.
But Prilosec and similar medicines do wonders.
And calcium carbonate antacids when necessary.
.
i have bad reflux and am in the cancer screening programme i cant feel the top part of my digestive system from constant pain and just feel sick all the time
It does kinda feel like that sometimes, but not always.
Its always a concern because heart attack symptoms can be similar to heart burn. Take Pepcid or Tums or whatever your choice of H2 blockers are. (Tums are not H2 Blockers) If you do not get any relief from them, then I would take a trip to the ER to be on the safer side.
No, my throat burns so bad that I have to sit up and then drink a lot of water. Then I have to stay up at least a half an hour. Sometimes I just start coughing and can’t quit. It’s very miserable to get heartburn or acid reflux.
That’s a common feeling.
I usually get the coughing fits, those are miserable.
You have some good advice here about getting it under control. It’s not only really unpleasant, it can cause permanent damage, and even cancer. I know one person whose esophagus was so scarred, she couldn’t swallow food. She had to have it surgically reopened. You woudldn’t want that to happen. Neither would I, which is why I started taking my Prilosec again.
You have my sympathy.
I went through various medication and medical proceedures,
then finally I was given Omeprazole.
They start this off with a high dosage (40mg capsules) then reduce it to 20mg and finally to 10mg, which is a holding dose.
For me this has been brilliant and has completely solved the problem.
yes, i also have GERD or GORD and it can be awful! I had to try about 4 different medicines before I found the right one. I am on Protium 40 mg once a day. i take it a good hour before i eat and it helps a lot! i know the feeling. when i get it bad my stomach usually feels REALLY full uncomfortable, i burp and i bring up acid and i feel sick and the burning goes up to the back of my throat. ughhhhhhh! i honestly feel for you.
